Our client is a large international cybersecurity company specializing in enterprise security solutions for servers, containers, and cloud environments. With a global presence across the US, UK, and Asia, the company operates complex logistics and warehouse processes.

The primary goal was to build a highly reliable warehouse order fulfillment system that could function seamlessly even in environments with unstable or unavailable internet connectivity, ensuring uninterrupted operations and accurate order processing.

Main Challenges

  • Low or Unstable Connectivity

    Warehouse environments often suffered from poor or intermittent internet access, making traditional cloud-dependent systems unreliable for daily operations.

We designed and delivered an offline-first warehouse order fulfillment system combining a web-based management platform with an industrial handheld scanning device.

Web-Based Order Management System

We built a web platform where different user roles could manage products, create and configure orders, assign them to specific warehouses, and export order data.

Offline Industrial Scanner Application

We developed a dedicated application for an industrial handheld scanner that allowed warehouse workers to download multiple orders and process them entirely offline.

XML-Based Order Distribution via Local Server

Orders were exported from the web system as XML files and stored on a local warehouse server. These files were accessible through a structured folder system and could be downloaded by the scanner via FTP.

Deferred Synchronization Mechanism

Once the scanner was placed back on its docking station and internet connectivity was available, all processed orders were automatically synchronized back to the central database.

RFID-Based Picking Workflow

Using RFID scanning, warehouse staff could verify each product in real time by physically scanning items while holding the scanner trigger, ensuring correct quantities and product matching.

Barcode Order Identification

Each order was identified using a barcode printed on the courier’s order sheet. Workers could scan the barcode or manually enter the order ID to retrieve order details on the device.
